To Blog or Not to Blog?

Blogging is an important part of an author’s platform. I’ve read numerous articles telling me so. It’s a good way to connect with your readers (and other writers), refine your writing skills, and keep your website from becoming static and stale, etc. I get it. I do. (Well, except for the connecting with your readers part. Personally, I think more people turn to social media platforms than websites when they want to interact.) Then why is this only my fifth post since setting up my website? The website has been up for over a year now. I should have a decent collection of blog posts, right? Well, the truth is I don’t like to blog.

Now you’re probably thinking what kind of writer doesn’t like blogging? Don’t I like to write? Isn’t that what blogging is? Of course I enjoy writing, in fact I love it. I’ve self-published three books now. Writing is my passion.

But. I. Don’t. Like. To. Blog.20161016_155138

I have attempted blogging before and failed each time. I don’t know why. Maybe I don’t think anyone wants to read anything I have to say. Maybe I’m just lazy. Or maybe it’s a combination of both. I don’t know.

Now the question is should I even bother trying this time? Or would it be better to delete the blog section of my website altogether? Hmm. I could, but I’m not. Instead, I’m going to give this blogging thing another go. Hey, we all have parts of our jobs that we don’t enjoy doing right? It’s time to put my big girl pants on and suck it up. Who knows? Maybe once I give it a real chance I’ll enjoy it.

So, dear friends, please bear with me as I try to tackle this blogging thing. Again. I will do better this time.

Stay tuned.

xo,

Angela
